Re: RAF100 Flypast
Theres no vulcan either sold....

I learnt to fly a helicopter at southend next to the vulcan.

I was learning the same time as another guy. we both did our first solo the day after each other. the first day i went out into my circuit and i had a red light come on and had to come straight back in and they were a bit panicky as it wasn't long after that 16 year old lad ditched his Cessna, the other guy went the day after and in his circuit the red arrows did a fly past......

I think there are no airworthy Vulcans remaining now.

Re: RAF100 Flypast
Shame cheesy, the Harrier was always my favourite, mainly due to its speed at the time.

Sold is there a way that they could make the vulcan airworthy and get it off the ground again?

Re: RAF100 Flypast
Was going to have a picnic in Stapleford Abbots and watch them go over on the way to London. But have just been called in to meet a client in town. Managed to get the time changed so I can still cycle over to St James Park, grab a sandwich and watch it from there.

Re: RAF100 Flypast
I think that last one had reached a point where it needed a check that required it to be dismantled at significant cost.

Re: RAF100 Flypast
madeeasy, the Harrier is noted for it's speed, sure you were referring to the Lightning? Now that was one fast fucker

Re: RAF100 Flypast
Can't see the Vulcan airworthy again. I'm sure it's safety certificate was refused. But atleast they got it flying again and the last and best time I see it was at the end of Clacton pier. I'm gonna view it from Waterloo bridge or the south bank.

Remember the English Electric Lightings going over my old man's gaff outside Norwich - absolutely deafening.

My office window is roughly 100 metres from the tower of London, so looking forward to this big time.

Looking forward to this. Work a bit further out but hopefully will see from distance at the top of Parliament Hill, so should glimpse then from afar.

Harrier would have been nice. That new Lighting looks like dog shit though.

Re: RAF100 Flypast
Cat, I wouldn't bet on you seeing the flypast from there.

Went up there for the New Year's fireworks a few years ago and didn't see anything although it's possible to see parliament from there.

Not absolutely sure but I would get closer to town.

As for me, I will watch it from the Bomber Command Memorial and think about my old pal Doug Radcliffe, chairman of The Bomber Command Memorial Fund who died last year, then a drink in the RAF Club in Piccadilly with his son.

I will be in West London so may hopefully catch some of them on their way to Heathrow. My Grandad bless would have loved this being in the Battle of Britain, radar.
